OrenMy paws thudded against the ground as I ran through the forest. I was hungry and knew that I should stop running to hunt but I couldn't find it in me to stop my feet from moving. I lifted my head to glance at the sky with happiness gleaming in my eyes. I loved being free and away from the tight knit feeling of a pack, it was so much better to be so free even if I was alone. Besides I had never been the type to enjoy someone near me every minute of every day, it just wasn't who I was. There were times, during the cold nights, that I missed my pack but it was nothing more than a soft longing that would always go away by the time I went to sleep; nothing could make me go back to my pack now that I had tasted the freedom of being a loner.
Eventually a dull ache began to make itself known in my paws and I finally admitted defeat by slowing my pace down to a slow trot until I came to a complete stop. My tongue lolled out of my mouth slightly as I panted for air, causing my flanks to rise up and down. I let my gaze slide around the part of the forest that I had stopped in, checking to make sure no one else was around, before tilting my head to one side and listening for any sounds of prey.

Soyana
I bounded through the forest, twisting and turning around the trees. The icy air closed around my lungs. My chest tightened but, no matter to me, I kept jumping and weaving. The steady beat of my paws drumming against the ground faster than my racing heart, was really lulling. I closed my eyes and kept sprinting forward, I knew this forest like the back of my paw, and I knew my paw well. The smell of a male wolf hit my nose and stopped me in my tracks, literally. I skidded to a halt almost falling flat on my muzzle. Growling I knew he was running, right past me, but he'd know I was right here.

OrenWhen the smell of another wolf reached me, I whirled my head around towards the direction it was coming from. I wasn't used to running into other wolves ever since I had left my pack and it always put me on edge to smell another one so close by. I wasn't stupid, I knew I was young and I knew I had less experience than a lot of other wolves which was why I tended to avoid all contact with others. I ducked my head as my hackles rose in response to the low growl that formed in my throat. "Who's there?" I asked the empty space around me, wondering if the female wolf was to be trusted or not. My eyes darted around looking for any sign of the other wolf.

SoyanaMy head snapped in the direction of where the male wolf had suddenly stopped, ugh, of course I should have kept running, but I was no coward, nor was I looking for a fight. His voice rang out, ouch, I didn't know I'd been putting all of my senses on him, that low growl hurt. Frozen, I wouldn't open my mouth to respond, my humor had foresaken me recently, usually I'd make some funny comment and let the tension in the atmosphere drop. My muzzle was shut tight. If I couldn't say something soon, he'd probably take it the wrong way, and I didn't want to fight. Luckily my outgoing personality hadn't so much foresaken me as my humor, so I straightened up and trotted through the forest toward him, a little wolfish smile crept onto my face as I eased myself to sit before him. All of my motions were gentle and flowing, I was like a river... not personality wise. Wrapping my tail around my paws I replied gently. "Soyana." I introduced myself carefully.
