[teal]The rythmic pressure of her pads on the earth, the wind blowing in her thick white pelt, the whistling in her ears, the other sounds of the forest. . . That was all Evelyn sensed of her environment. She was going fast, extremely fast, and she liked it. It was a chance to disconnect from reality, embrace euphoria in deepest way, not dwell on the depressing memories of her past. . . Yes, that was what she liked of running. Her light body soared through the air as she jumped over a stream and landed soundlessly on the opposie bank. She had know ever since her first run in the forest why the legends her parents had told her considered arctic wolves as the white ghosts of the forest.
Indeed, her parents had taught her that Inuit people considered wolves as the ghost of their forests, and the arctic wolves' calls were something sacred to listen to. She didn't know what Inuit people were, but her parents had told her they were mammals, information she concluded as a great fat load of help. She didn't dwell on her sarcastic thought long, she was just too busy not to think about it.
Then, she heard a distinct change in the way the wind blew on the grass, and she knew there was a clearing or something not far. She sped up and tumbled through the edge of the trees, gazing at the expanse of plain in front of her. She was mezmerized, her leaf green eyes sweeping with awe the vast area of grass. She tore her eyes of it, wondering if there was prey nearby, her stomach rumbling eagerly. . . [/size] [/teal]

Iris was standing just in front of the last field before the valley plains opened to the wilderness, how did she end up here? Feeling a pull towards it, Iris had driven here and was now standing in the middle of nowhere and was absolutely, positively confused and slightly frightened. Was she insane? Two blows to the head, a fractured skull, and a coma wasn't exactly good for your sanity. Falling back to sit on the grassy plain, Iris slid her face into her hands and put them in between her knee's. Being so confused and feeling so horribly helpless, Iris cried. The first time she had ever cried since she was a baby, Iris always had to be strong for everyone around here and now she couldn't even fak being fine just fine. It wasn't as if she bawling or anything but the tears just ran down her face, hardly coming away from her eyes at all. Teardrops stained her blue jeans, but her hair curtained around her, shielding her from the world.

[teal]Ears standing erect and her head high, Evelyn's leaf green eyes scanned the field for prey. Her stomach was grumbling, she didn't know why she was staying here for prey, there was obviously nothing living. But her ears told her a completely different story. She heard the distant grumbling sound of something that wasn't living, which confused her. The thing moved, by the sound of it which was getting closer and closer, but was not living. She flicked her ears irritably; that was impossible. But the odd metal beast stopped near the field, and what came out of it astounded her even more.
A mammal like she had never seen before. Instantly, her curisosity was spiked, and she approached warily. Standing on two legs instead of the normal four, the figure just stood and looked. Evelyn was partly concealed by the long grass, so she didn't think the mammal would see her. After a while, the female of that species put her face between her knees, her abnormaly long fur hiding her from view. Yet the fur only seemed to grow on one part of her body, except of a slight undercoat on it's arms and legs.
She approached even more, to the point where she was only a few meters from the figure. Something irresistible, like a magnetic force was pulling her in, like a heron bringing back it's catch. She noticed for the first time how warm and all fuzzy she felt next to this creature, as if all her life she had been missing something, and she had suddenly got it. A glorious whole feeling, near euphoria, but she couldn't help but be frightened of this creature. Then she realized. She had never seen this creature because it didn't live in the forest. This creature was like the creatures her parents had described in the legends about the Inuits. This creature was like an Inuit. Everything all cleared up, and she was happy to have solved that mystery.
But the only problem was that her legs seemed to be moving of their own accord, her mind strangely disconnected from the time and place. She felt quite frightened at that moment, and tried in vain to stop her moving legs. They only stopped when she was a few feet from the supposed Inuit, when fear froze her into place, even though she felt strangely lighthearted being close to this Inuit. The two feelings battled ferociously while she stood, frozen. [/size] [/teal]

As soon as the tears stopped running down her olive tanned face, Iris lifted her head- and screamed in fright. Well how else was she supposed to react to a white wolf close enough to put its head in her lap? The she-wolf hadn't been there a minute ago when she had started crying, so I guess you could understand why she had almost had a heart attack. Wolves and the bond had only caused her grief, injury and loss so far, so she wasn't exactly looking for wolves at the moment. Her fright was stifled and soothed away by the presence of the creature that had in fact caused it in the first place. Iris felt strangely at home like she hadn't in a very long time, she knew what it could be, but she didn't want that to happen, it just couldn't happen- not to her.
Iris fluidly unfolded and towered over the wolf in her current height, she had a way of making everything look easy and her personality suited how she looked so regal and flawless. The truth was that she wasn't flawless or so perfect as she looked, she was in turmoil with her life and was still coming to terms with the bond and The Twins. Her brain was screaming at her legs to back away but somehow her legs weren't responding like they should, it was as if she had been nailed into place like a mannequin in a store window.
She felt her whole heart reaching out for the beautiful arctic wolf in front of her but she stopped herself. Iris's heart was beating its way out of her ribcage, and she was right to be scared after all that had happened to her. Iris's crystal blue grey eyes searched the forest green of the wolf in front of her, it locked and Iris couldn't get out of the wolf's stare.

[teal]Something about this supposed Inuit was different, maybe it was the fact that it was the first one she encountered. But something told her this wasn't the reason she was frozen there. It was something deeper, unexplainable, scary. It wasn't normal. Yet, she felt as if she couldn't go anywhere without this creature, which made her even more frightened. Her heart was beating so fast, she would swear having a heart attack. It was still crying behing it's curtain of fur, but Evelyn didn't have any space left in her brain for wondering why it was so upset. She trying so hard to run away that her legs seemed to become almost painful, and she tried to relax her jagged breathing. In vain.
She was really trying to get away from the creature, trying to do it before the creature noticed she was there. It didn't seem to have noticed her yet, either the creature didn't have acute senses, either it was to shut up in it's misery to watch out for anything around her. To her great dismay, the unknown species dried it's tears and looked up. The next second, she thought it's call of fright would make her jump out of her skin. But her legs where still motionless, giving her a look of a statue. That was a bit how she felt too, the overdose of emotions slowly tiring her. She sensed her desire to run away fade slowly, like crumbling rock. Her last defences were gone. The only moment where she had felt so statue-like and powerless was the day she had saved her sister, and the depressing memories invaded her foggy brain.
A large male wolf appeared out of nowhere, a ghostly figure, eyeing their food excitedly. Evelyn moved to portect their food, they had not eaten in days. The problem was, she had left her sister unprotected, she was vulnerable. When the black brute charged, Evelyn jumped aside in fright, leaving the attacker a clear path to her smaller sister. He attacked her first, Evelyn watching in horror. She was frozen, motionless, fear and pain battling in the same space in her brain.
Then, her sister squealed pitifully, and that seemed to unblock her. She leaped at the brute, clamping her jaws down on his neck. He shook her off violently, and she rolled on the ground. She dodged his next attack, his large size getting in the way of his speed. Unfortunately, she wasn't as lucky on the next one. He bit her hing leg, and she was powerless. Her only solution formed in her head. In a feat of flexibility, twisted her body around and lunged at the black brute's neck, this time clamping her jaws tight down. His howl of pain resonated in her head long after she had killed him. . .
Evelyn shook the painful memories away, looking at the mammal who had rizen gracefully to her feet, demonstrating no outward sign of any emotions. Yet, she made it all look easy. Too easy. Somehow, Evelyn knew this creature was as scared as she was, yet was not showing it. This creature was very good at hiding emotions, and when her grey eyes locked with hers, she thought her world was tiping over. . . She couldn't turn away. . . Her foggy brain wasn't responding. . . Her legs started to tremble uncontroblably. They were seconds away from buckling, they weren't responding. She stood there, trembling but unable to do anything else, looking at this creature's grey eyes. . . [/size] [/teal]

Iris's mind was swirling, she felt dizzy and faint she didn't feel so sharp anymore and she was afraid of what was happening she was sure that this couldn't be the bond even though she had never experienced it before. The wolf didn't look to good either, it was swaying on its paws surely it couldn't be feeling what Iris was feeling as well- that would just be too freaky. It all had to be a weird dream, she'd wake up or the dream would dissolve into blackness soon enough but it wasn't and Iris was just kidding herself, it was happening but who would want to believe it in the first place.
Vision hazed over and her eyes were still locked to the leaf green ones of the wolf's, everything seemed to zero in on the leaf green eyes of the wolf. Iris was lost in them, green filled her vision for a few moments and then she felt as if she knew everything about this majestic creature in front of her, a thin spider web-like strand was connecting each being through the heart and soul. Iris could no longer see it, but all of her senses seemed at least ten times more acute, she had gained what had been held away from her all her life.
Iris was suddenly calm and sure of herself, no longer did she think for herself as crazy. Rationality was with her, she was still frightened but now that she knew what had happened, she was no longer afraid of that. What she was afraid was that now, the Twins would be on her once again, and Iris did not fancy another coma. It was probably pay back, all of this, because she hadn't done anything to save her family from the wrath that was fire's destruction and anger. Iris had gotten the hell out of there just before the whole house had collapsed, five years ago. It just wasn't fair, but Iris blamed herself for it every single day, her family had been very close and then it was all gone within and hour.
Suddenly Iris had her family back, or whatever remained of it, this wolf was her other half... no they were not in love, it was like being related except not technically biologically. It was being joined by the soul, sort of, and Iris felt whole for the first time in her life. She belonged with this wolf, no matter what Iris had to protect this wolf from harm that was to come. It would be a hell of a job but it would pay off, Iris was certain that this wolf felt the same way. Iris knew the wolf's name, it just popped into her head even though Iris knew nothing of the bond.
"Evelyn."
The surreality faded to Iris, but she no longer felt afraid of the pure wolf, it was just gone.

[teal]Evelyn was trembling even harder on her paws now, her mind and body struggling to make connection. It was weird how she felt so oddly disconnected from her body, as if it was another entity. Yet, a part of her felt so happy it was almost dizzying. She couldn't know what she was really feeling, the two were pushing each other, fighting for domination. Yet, her eyes were still fixed onto the deep grey ones of the unknown species. But she still didn't have the strength to tear them away from the mezmerizing grey ones of the mammal. Her mind was foggy and she was struggling to not fall down.
Then, she realized. Her heart was almost trying to leap out of her ribcage, stretching toward the creature. The connection was with heart, but also with soul. Then she understood the warm, whole feeling she felt. She had been prived of the other half of her heart or soul for all her life. Now, she had found it. All fear suddenly left her like a blast of cold wind. She understood why this was happening, and she knew this supposed Inuit was not going to hurt her, quite the contrary. She suddenly felt very portective of the creature, and she finally managed to tear her eyes away to check around to see if there was any danger.
Then, having assured herself that there was nothing, her eyes locked with the grey ones once again. Her trembling had stopped and she stood firmly on her legs without fear of falling. A thought popped in her mind very suddenly, as if out of nowhere. This creature must have a name? But the answer appeared in her head the same way the question did. Iris. What a lovely name. The creature seemed to have had the same internal questionment as she did, for she said her name. She stared at the creature, but moved forward to touch her hand. She gave it a little lick, and gazed up at the creature, seriously wondering what creature she was now. . . [/size] [/teal]

Iris exhaled, relieved that the tense atmosphere had melted away, no longer did she feel confused and afraid of the bond. Now Iris understood what Anna had been so crazy about when Iris refused to believe it was worth the danger, now she knew that it was well worth it. Her muscles all relaxed and she no longer looked as stiff as a plank of wood, Iris was herself again but she still had a tad bit of uncertainty nagging at the back of her mind. Reaching out to Evelyn, Iris wondered if this wolf would actually let her touch her... or take off her hand.
Looking into Evelyn's eyes Iris was taken away into one memory that she regretted that ever happened in the first place. Looking down at herself she saw herself as transparent, she was just looking in on this one night's happenings. It was a new moon, which coincidentally was no moon. It was as dark as the world would ever get during the night. A lovely two story house rose up in front of her, everyone inside was sleeping peacefully, undisturbed. Instantly Iris recognized this place, it was the night she would lose every person she ever had in her life. Iris had a big family, and tonight was a family reunion. Suddenly there was light inside the house, just a tiny flicker at first, but it grew and it wasn't long before it engulfed the house. Iris saw a younger version of herself run out of the house in panic, and then call the number everyone knew well. By the time everything had arrived, the house was just charred remains. Everything Iris had... was gone.
Iris snapped out of her memory before assuring herself that she was here, and she had everything she could now have. She had a resemblance of a family, she had friends and a place to live and a job. She'd be okay now, she was still waiting for the wolf's reaction to her outstretched hand.

[teal]As Iris began to relax, the tense atmosphere that had reigned disolved into the air. Both of them now understood what was happening, and both were not scared anymore. At that moment, Evelyn felt happier than she had ever been in her life, and for once, had a little reassurance. A sense of euphoria spread in her body as she cessed to be scared of the bond, but embrace it. Yes, this was the best thing that had ever happened to her. Being next to Iris was a reassuring, peaceful sensation, she wanted to stay next to her forever. Her muscles uncoiled as Iris relaxed too. When Iris reached out, Evelyn didn't ask herself too many questions, she just approached, running her head on Iris's hand. She gave it a little lick, trying to reassure her.
But she sensed Iris was lost in her thoughts, or like earlier to her, her memories. She shivered almost imperceptibly at the thought of her dpressing past, but quickly chased the memory out of her head before she lived it again. She threw a worried gaze at Iris, wondering what she was living. She sincerely hoped it wasn't anything totally horrific, like her memories. At least, she hoped. . . [/size] [/teal]
