Twisting Fate
Something was wrong. The horses of the mainland didn’t understand what was happening. Fog was lingering everywhere, tainting everything. Out of nowhere, it had come. It had been a perfect day, sunny, not one cloud in sight. And now this. The horses knew had to leave. As the storm started to grow, shaking trees and drowning land, they knew they had to leave. Water levels rose, rain pelting the earth insanely, wind whipping things every way possible. Where had this come from? All horses freed themselves, taking off in a flurry of chaos. Everything was a flame, yet it was raining and it appeared that the land was sinking. Deeper, deeper. Soon they were forced to climb. The thousands of horses trekked up the tallest cliff, foals squealing to catch up to their mothers, as they galloped up the high ridges. Mud coated the steep hillside, and horses started falling, rolling down and smashing into others, only to be swallowed by the freezing waters close behind. People where gone, dead, they where all that was left. As the water level continued to rise, all the surviving horses were trapped. They were forced to stay there, at the top of this cliff, but when the storm continued to hurl and cause chaos around them, they decided they needed to keep moving. As the water level continued to consume their world, it was soon only feet from the top of the cliff. All at once, the thousands threw themselves off the ledge, landing in the rapids of the freezing waters. By the thousands, they thrashed, fighting for their lives, watching others loose them before their eyes. Screams echoed throughout the lands, fire crackled, it was insane. They swam, their limbs aching and turning raw with the cold and conditions. Soon, more horses fell, dying of exhaustion and the cold, but their numbers stayed high. The storm continued to rage around them, tossing things this way and that. Lighting caught everything on fire that could burn. But still, they swam.
Water pumbled them for hours on end, until it seemed as if they left the storm behind. They were left with the blind darkness, swimming aimlessly for their lives. They continued to swim, each and every one half-drowning, their numbers decreasing. But, as quick as it had come, the storm had been left behind. All was quiet, all was still. The horses did the only thing they could and continued aimlessly, all keeping close, as they didn’t want to lose each other. Finally, after hours on end one horse connected with the ground, water clinging to his coat, his legs eagerly seeking more earth. Soon, the rest followed, coming upon land and stood their, huddling together, panting shivering. An hour or so passed, befreo they noticed this island was not inhabited. Soon, wolves started showing up, teeth bared, ear pinned. They didn’t seem friendly. They stalked forwards, but instead of fighting, they held their ground, and the two, equine and canine, made a deal. The wolves got one island, and the horses, each alliance, got another. Then, there was one that both could roam. Wolves where free to hunt, for sharing their land, but horses where free to kill who ever hunted. It wasn’t much of an agreement, but it worked. Horses and wolves went their separate ways, only coming in contact when needed. Now, that is how Twisting Fate is, but soon, the balance will change.. Little do all the horses know, there is a secret alliance building. Several elemental horses. These spirit horses are creating bonds with the elemental wolves, who will soon join together and take rain over Twisting Fate. Have they already caused chaos? Yes, the storm. The one that brought them here, that was all elementals. They don't always have full control of their element. These things happen. No one knows this.. but will other horses find out? Only time will tell, but will something worse happen first? You will never know..
