Anna was back at work onlya few days after her birth, she wouldn't have been here if she would have taken care of them better. She was still beating herself up about the whole incident. Erik still wasn't back, and Anna was losing hope and becoming less like herself than usual. Now she knew how he felt when she left him with barely a reason. Anna was back in her trouble making English class, thank goodness today had been quiet so far. If only it had kept going that way, but of course, as always Anna couldn't catch a break.
As Anna was typing away to other teachers for meetings and all sorts of other things she needed to get done, one jock in her least favorite group put his hand up. Maybe it's nothing bad. She thought to herself, but she knew that wasn't the case. She nodded to him to say what he had been wanting to and she was actually not surprised by what came out of his mouth.
"Shouldn't you be at home with your kids and the father?"
A sly smirk entered the jock's face as Anna's lips thinned and she looked truly tired of everything.
"Shouldn't you be minding your own business?"
Anna's slightly angry voice retorted as she looked back at her computer and started typing again, thinking he was done. That, was not the case either.
"Oh so they didn't make it? And the father left you?"
Anna didn't know if Erik had left her, tears welled up in her eyes before she calmed herself, not a tear escaped.
"I think you need to back talk yourself down the hall to the principal."
That was it. The jock left the class and Anna went back to typing, it was silent, everyone knew her story now, they might've been shocked or just respectful. Anna's heart was aching and pulling at her chest painfully.

Do you want me to tell you something really subversive? Love is everything it's cracked up to be. That's why people are so cynical about it. It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. And the trouble is, if you don't risk anything, you risk even more.
.xXx. Rain pelted the windshield of the car, as Erik drove towards the school. His hands where clasped around the steering wheel so tight, that his knuckles where going pale, though, it was subconscious. He drove quickly, exceeding the speed limit slightly, though not really caring. He was so late. Erik had English first, and though he had an excuse to be late, he was still freaking out mentally. He saw the turnoff for the school, and smiled a little to himself, before turning abruptly to come into the parking lot, and slow down dramatically. Erik parked his car, got out of the vehicle, grabbed his backpack, before running into the school. He walked through the doors soaking wet, his hair plastered to his head, as he came to his locker to put his bag in, and grab his text book and binder. Alrighty. Twenty minutes bad. Not too horrible, right? Erik thought it was pretty well, considering her had just gotten home earlier that morning. He had gotten home, changed, then left again for school. It was amusing, how ever since Anna was teaching him, how Erik had been motivated to do well. Though, he usually wouldn’t have cared.
Erik hurried down the hall, taking off his soaked hoodie to drape it over his arm as he walked. Though, as he got closer he noticed someone coming out of Anna’s class. It was him. Erik’s entire body tensed on the spot, and as he walked by, he noticed the sneer on the jock’s face. God, he made Erik so angry. They walked past each other, clipping shoulders harshly, before Erik neared the classroom. His protective edge was taking over, and he could only think of one reason that the jock would be sent out. He had been disrespectful to Anna. God, he wanted to kill him. Erik stopped his thoughts there, as he came closer, reaching out to let his hand touch the cold material of the door handle. He opened it up slowly, trying to ignore the entire class look towards him. He walked towards the front of the class, and placed his things down, before looking up at Anna. Maybe she would pull him into the hall to talk. Yes, please? Erik took in her appearance though, and noticed she didn’t have two babies with her. And she looked like hell. She was gorgeous, as she normally was, but she looked unhealthily tired. Erik felt worry sprout inside of him, though it increased when he casually glanced around. Everyone was staring at him. Why couldn’t they just freaking back off a little? Erik already felt his unease taking a toll on his attitude. He got up smoothly, and walked over to her desk, trying to resist the urge to touch her face.
“Sorry for being late... I was away, didn’t get back ‘till this morning...”
He said, talking so that if the class was listening they would hopefully forget their suspicious thoughts. Ugh, Erik needed to talk to her so bad. He could only hope she came up with an excuse. God please, please, PLEASE let her come up with an excuse. Over the last three weeks, Erik had been staying with his mother, as his father was in a facility, sort of like rehab, for his anger problems. Erik had changed a little, over the three weeks, though just a little. Longer hair, more clothing, just the normal things. But, the whole time Erik had been missing Anna. He couldn’t do anything without thinking of her, and when he found out he had to stay, and miss the birth, he was heartbroken. Sometimes things in life happen to go against you. Though, Anna and Erik knew this fact already. Far too well.

Quiet classroom. Complete peace. Any teacher would think this was heaven come to earth, bliss. No one could've guessed how this made a certain substitute more uneasy than ever. Tick tock. The clock kept going, it was all you could hear in the silent classroom. Silence was meant to be broken, but no one would, and it was driving Anna insane. Everything in her life was like this, an awful lot of madness constantly wreaking havoc in the background, but on the blank, beautiful surface, nothing showed. Anna had never felt so terribly amiss in her life, and there were reasons behind that theory. Don't you think for a moment that she was just paranoid, because you will certainly be proved wrong.
One of Anna's nimble hands rested on her stomach, a deep emptiness surrounding the motion; she didn't even know she was doing it. What she was so set on protecting was no longer there, she hadn't taken care of them well enough. A quiet sigh escaped her drawn lips as she realized what she had been doing. Her thin hand was removed from the area and was rested on the assignment ridden desk that she worked at. A red pen was lifted from the desk as she decided to mark papers to keep her hands busy. Soon the words were all blurring into one, and she could no longer concentrate on the task at hand. Another glance toward the clock, barely five minutes had passed. What else could possibly be done to keep her mind from wandering into the dark recesses of her mind?
After replying to endless emails, Anna could no longer think properly. Exhaustion had caught up with her, and with so many responsibilities wearing her thin, she could barely keep back her emotions. Her heart ached for Erik, but there was nothing to be done about the problem. He would only come back when he could, Anna understood that, but she couldn't help but think that it wasn't fair. She so obviously needed Erik, maybe if she hadn't pushed him away so much he would've been there with her. Maybe he'd finally had enough of her, but whatever happened Anna knew that she deserved it completely. Her hands cradled her head as she tried to concentrate and get over herself so that she could hope to keep her job. Footsteps in the hall released Anna from her lapse in control, she looked toward the door curiously.
Of course Anna knew it could be anyone, a pupil sent out of class, even a teacher running errands. Anna's eyes strayed back down to the unmarked papers, she knew that she had to grade them, and so her idle hand picked up the red pen and started working. That was, until the doorknob to her classroom turned. Now who could that possibly be? Someone who was going to be in a truck load of trouble for being twenty minutes late for sure. Anna dropped the pen to her desk irritatedly before looking up to see Erik's handsome face just in front of hers. It still took her breath away, even now, but she knew she couldn't let the irritated facade drop, suspiscion still commanded the classroom. Rising from her chair, Anna walked toward the door and pointed her Erik out, looking like she was going to scold him for being so late.
Once she closed the door, the whole act dropped and what was left was a slightly flustered, exhausted, depressed Anna. The mischeivous spark had exited her eyes a while ago, when she had lost everything. The slight smile that always graced her full, red lips was too tired to show up. Anna's healthy weight and health had deteriorated, even though she didn't believe in people starving themselves. Anna looked truly beaten in life, and she had no idea what to say at the moment, so she stood there staring at her Erik, endless questions running through her mind. The red haired woman wanted to take her love into her small arms, but she couldn't bring herself to. What if he no longer needed her?
Anna had changed since Erik had last seen her, her hair had grown out to her shoulders and was a deeper, richer, darker red. Her eyes were a lighter green then they had been before Erik had left. Simple changes, but it made all the difference. Weirdly, Anna was also slightly taller too, an inch or two. Turns out Anna wasn't past growing. Her skin had become more tanned, but not by much. Word Count- 817 Muse- GREAT! Edit- Now the word count is good. The previous post was horrible!

Do you want me to tell you something really subversive? Love is everything it's cracked up to be. That's why people are so cynical about it. It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. And the trouble is, if you don't risk anything, you risk even more.
.xXx. Erik was entirely relieved, to see Anna again. Even though she looked like she was about to scold him, that is. Erik knew it was only to fool the other students, and he decided he might as well play the role perfectly. After all, they had an audience. Erik dropped his books on the desk, emitting a deep sigh, out of pretend annoyance, before walking out of the classroom obediently, and crossing his arms, waiting for Anna to follow. Time seemed to slow down, as she walked closer to him, and Erik was beginning to think he wasn’t going to be able to restrain himself anymore. He needed her, right now. He needed to hold her, and kiss her, and tell her he was back. Everything was alright. But, just in time, she closed the door, and her frustration drained. But, Erik didn’t like what was left. At all.
What had happened to her?! Erik’s face went slightly pale, as he looked over her outrageously small frame. Her hair and eyes stood out, against her thin frame, and Erik felt a knot form in his stomach. This was all his fault. Her condition. He shouldn’t have left, damn it! Erik noticed how tired she looked, and let his hand reach out, to run his thumb lightly along her cheek bone. A slight smile curved his lips, and without hesitation, Erik pulled her closer, wrapping his arms around her securely, though not tightly. She was fragile right now. And, although Erik knew he couldn’t crush her, he didn’t want to take the chance. She meant the world to him, and he had hurt her enough, already. Erik held onto her for a moment, before turning his head towards her ear, so she could hear him speak.
“I missed you so much... I never want to leave again.”
Erik whispered, before pulling back a little, though not much. He didn’t have the willpower to back away from her. He still needed to hold her. He missed her, even though he was with her. Erik touched her face again lightly, his smile turning slightly sad, as he watched her. The little spark in her eye that he had adored so much... It was gone. As if it never existed. Never had been. That bothered Erik more than anything, and he fought to hold onto his happiness, trying to push his angrier emotions into the back of his mind. It wasn’t time to get angry, now. Erik wanted to ask her what happened to her, why she seemed so down... But he didn’t want to upset her. Or make her even more tired with his load of questions. No. Erik had a much better idea.
“I think it’s time to call a sub for a sub. Don’t you?”
He asked, grinning a little, before taking her hands once more. And then, as quickly as he could, he picked Anna up, cradling her easily. It wasn’t just Anna that had changed over the time they had been apart. No, Erik had grown, too. He was definitely more muscled, as he had started working out more, every day, as well as being taller, and more mature looking. His blonde hair was a little longer, though his light eyes were the same, as he stared down at her. Affection shone into them, as he looked down at Anna, and a small smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. Well, surprise. He was home for good.
Erik walked down the hall, exiting out the back, unseen, ignoring her momentarily, knowing that she may want to go back. It wasn’t like they would fire her, as the school was short on teachers. They needed her. And so what... Erik stole her. Nothing anyone could do about that. He walked her over to the tree’s, on the edge of the school grounds, and sat down, still holding her. He was still on the school grounds, because Erik didn’t actually want to steal her. Well, he did... But the trouble he would get in if he did... Not good. Erik smiled down at her a little, before leaning down to kiss her on the forehead lightly, and sigh, the scents of the grass filling his lungs.
“I love you...”
He said softly, bringing her close. Erik didn’t really think she could get mad, but... He was determined. He was home, and things would be alright now. He would make sure Anna was restored back to good health, and he would make sure no one gave her any trouble. Whatsoever. To be honest... Erik was content, at the moment. To just sit, leaning against a tree, cradling his love lightly, holding her close to him. This is what he missed. Her. Over the time they had been apart, Erik had come to realise she was the one thing in life he needed. The one thing that mattered greatly to him. The one thing he couldn’t live without. He loved her far, far too much to leave her again. Little did he know, Anna had a few things to explain to him. A few secrets, in which to be explained. Looks like life has to get a little worse, to get better. Especially for these two.

It was a good thing Erik had played along, he was a good actor, to Anna's standards anyway. She could see his face drop slightly when she let her little facade down, she knew what he saw, after all she saw it everyday in the mirror. The sad thing was, she wanted to be happy, she wanted to laugh and have a good time because her Erik was back. It might sound stupid, but she couldn't. If anything she wanted to cry, not because he was back, but because of everything that had happened when he had been gone. Yet, she couldn't ruin his happiness, not just now. At least one of them had the right to be happy. She was sick of dragging him down with her, stressing him out, making him unhappy; she had done it so many times. He reached out at the same time her heart seemed to reach out for him, it made it final, she wasn't dreaming, he was actually here in front of her! Her throat swelled in happiness and relief, along with her heart, he still wanted her. She still wanted him. Anna didn't resist his hug, her arms instinctively looped around his waist, holding him tightly. She sighed heavily, it was as if the past three weeks of stress and sadness melted away and she finally relaxed. She felt him turn toward her and whisper something to her, she smiled for the first time in so long. Entirely too long.
"I missed you too."
Anna felt him pull away, but he didn't leave, she still held him because she couldn't let him leave. Her emerald green eyes gazed back up at him, Erik and his handsome face, his perfect personality. He could have anyone he wanted, even that brat Tiffany, but he had chosen Anna. She had chosen him, and she didn't know why she had pushed him away so many times. There were only so many times a boy could be thrown out before he never came back, and Anna would never get another guy like him again. Anna could feel the silence hanging in the air, and through that she knew he had questions to ask. The smile melted off of her face, she wasn't sure she was ready to answer them quite yet. His words confused her, why call in a new sub? She was expecting one of his questions. Her questions were soon answered as he swept her off her feet, literally and figuratively. Anna wasn't thick, she knew what was going on, and she didn't like it one bit.
"Erik..."
She warned softly, partly not wanting to be the responsible one at all. Giving up on it, she hugged herself to Erik as he carried her to who-knows-where. Suddenly she was noticing changes in Erik, nevermind the changes in herself. He had grown, it was only to be expected of course he wasn't even eighteen yet. Obviously he had been working out, his muscles were more defined and larger, his hair just that much longer. He grinned down at her, she tentatively smiled back, she didn't want to make him unhappy when he could be joyful. Anna knew she'd get in trouble for ditching class like that, just listen to her, she sounded like some teenage girl skipping class. But a little trouble wasn't enough to ruin a moment together. Never again. She knew, though, that in this moment together she'd have to explain something that she didn't yet want to. Being outside eased her unease at the situation, she inhaled the smell of Spring deeply, enjoying every moment of it. Her heart seized up as he pulled her toward him, she couldn't keep something this big away from him for this long; but she couldn't bear to ruin his happiness just yet. Starting out softly and calmly; not only for him but for herself too, Anna turned to him and told him what he needed to know.
"Erik... I-I'm sorry but while you-you were away,"
It took alot to be able to explain this, for Anna hadn't even accepted it herself yet, it would be a trying matter to say something to Erik about it. Her eyes cast down toward her hands she pulled away from him to sit on her own. She had to see his reaction for herself. Gazing up at him guiltily she carried on, but she choked up, the tears welling up in her eyes and her throat.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't- I..."
Calming herself down she placed her hand on his, tentatively waiting to console him, if he needed it. Or would he be mad at her? The tears threatened to pour over her eyelids at the thought. She was extremely vulnerable and emotional right now. She had only just gotten over the initial shock of the loss of her- their kids.
"The kids, Erik. They didn't make it."
Anna closed her eyes, fighting to keep her silly tears at bay. Why couldn't she be strong for once? When Erik really needed her to be put together. After they had told her that her babies had died, and she had been alone, something had died in Anna. She had yet to figure out what, but her biggest nightmare was to ever be left alone again. This could be the very time that that nightmare could become real... or be banished completely. At least for a little while. Afraid of what she would see, Anna still opened her emerald green eyes, hoping that maybe this time things could work out okay and stay that way. Word Count- 985 Muse- Blech Note- Worst post ever. Quantity istead of Quality.
